President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was a no-show at a fund-raising dinner held by the Fil-Am community at the the Gateway Sheraton Hotel near LAX on Friday night. Ambassador Willy Gaa, who spoke in her stead, announced that the presidential party had to make an emergency stop at Osaka, Japan to address a medical emergency that befell First Gentleman Miguel Arroyo. Amb. Gaa informed the media that the presidential plane would arrive at LAX around 1 a.m. Saturday, November 22, enroute to Peru where Arroyo will attend en economic summit with world leaders, including President George Bush of the United States.
Owing to the absence of the President, the party ended after dinner. Here are some of the photos taken at the dinner reception.
